We do not know what was put on our patio years ago. Can you still work with it?
Yes, and it is a common situation in Hemet. We test a small area first to see how the old material comes off before committing to a method across the whole slab. Using the wrong approach on an unknown coating wastes a day and can damage the concrete, so that test is part of the estimate.
Is resurfacing actually cheaper than replacing the concrete?

What matters is why the crack is there — a settled or heaving slab is a different conversation from ordinary shrinkage cracking, and that is the sort of thing Dave looks at on the estimate.
